Frank Zappa and His Parents in the ’70s

Frank Zappa is often remembered as the weird king of psychedelic rock, but contrary to his dynamic and eccentric music, he was a family-oriented man. Frank’s enjoying some family time with his parents in this photo, who look surprisingly very different from their son.

Growing up, Frank and his family would move throughout the country as his dad worked in the Department of Defense but finally settled in California when he was 15 years of age. He had always been talented when it came to music and had an appetite for science experiments like making chemicals explode, despite not performing well in studies and having difficulty in making friendships.
