Dries Mertens – Historic Neapolitan Apartment

The phenomenon of Naples lives in his apartment in Palazzo Donn’Anna. It’s a beautiful building that emerges from the water like a kind of cliff. Palazzo Donn’Anna is in every travel guide. It was originally built in the 15th century by a Dragonetto Bonifacio, but was completely rebuilt around 1640 by the woman from whom it was named: Anna Stigilano, who was married to the Spanish viceroy of Naples. Ask anyone in Naples what the building is known for and you’ll be told a story that the Italian queen took her lovers there and later dumped them in the sea so there would be no witnesses.
