Tibetan Mastiff

One of the largest dogs one can find, Tibetan Mastiffs were once Himalayan guard dogs which is why they are very assertive and strong-willed by nature. If they are face to face with someone they consider a threat, they rise up to their stature to offer a stiff front. Unwanted visitors are warded away by their tremendous bark and astonishing agility.

Yet there is something beautiful about its double coat which can be both long and short. Alert and dominating protectors of the family, they weigh somewhere between a veritable 90 to 150 pounds. While they are perfectly calm around family members, they are brutally fierce with outsiders.
