Since time immemorial, various cultures have had figures to represent death. One of the most common and enduring depictions is the Grim Reaper—a skeletal figure often shrouded in a black, hooded robe with a scythe to reap human souls.

We’re glad to see no one fell for this prank. This person dressed as the grim reaper in the lifeguard chair doesn’t seem to be scaring anyone. But he serves as a reminder to be cautious at the seaside. According to a 2022 World Health Organization survey, 43% of all water-related casualties occurred in the ocean.
