Sir Ben Kingsley – 77, Snainton

Krishna Pandit Bhanji, an English actor of Indian descent, changed his name to Ben Kingsley after he began to gain fame and notoriety from his work as a stage actor. Starting out in stage plays and theatrical productions during the ’60s, the Shutter Island actor made a big impression with his portrayal of Mohandas Gandhi in the critically acclaimed drama Gandhi.
His unforgettable role in the biographical movie about India’s political activist earned Kingsley an Academy Award, along with two BAFTAs. Following the success of Gandhi, the Schindler’s List actor has now undertaken another biopic, portraying the Spanish surrealist Salvador Dalí in Dalí Land.
