Pauline Collins – 80, Exmouth

Pauline Collins got her first taste of international fame when she appeared in three seasons of Upstairs, Downstairs as Sarah Moffat. When it comes to the big screen, film fans remember her as the lead role in 1989’s Shirley Valentine.

Before she brought her popular role to film, Collins had been orchestrating a one-woman play in London as Shirley Valentine in 1988. She then took the character to Broadway in New York before its film adaptation, which earned her an Oscar nomination. She was recently named as a cast member in the newly announced Finola Hughes comedy Byrd and the Bees.
