Claire Bloom – 90, London

Few other actresses in Hollywood can boast as illustrious a start in acting as Claire Bloom. Discovered in 1952 by none other than Charlie Chaplin himself, the Finchley, London-born actress was thrust into the limelight (excuse the pun) when she starred alongside the iconic comic in Limelight.
During her decorated career, Bloom has worked with revered filmmakers like Laurence Olivier and Richard Burton. In recent years, she has been seen in several productions like The King’s Speech, Doc Martin, and Summer of Rockets. Bloom is set to star as Teresa in the upcoming Joshua Sinclair-directed drama Sophie’s War.
