Meet Sergeant Ihrke

It’s been several years since Shannon’s first reported for duty in the Marine Corps. And by 2016, she stepped into a much more significant role once she rose to the ranks as Sergeant Ihrke. Of course, it was an incredible honor anyone would willingly accept with open arms.

Back in the day, Shannon used to be scrutinized primarily because of her gender. And Shannon gave every ounce of determination to prove to the men in particular that she shouldn’t be treated as anything more than an equal. Yet she felt like something else was missing, and Shannon only realized it four years into her Marine Corps endeavor.
