Jon Sopel – Journalist, £230K

Jon Sopel certainly showed political promise during his college days studying politics. After all, he was president of the Student’s Union for the Labour Students. Although he hasn’t contested any political positions, he’s put his knowledge to good use as a political correspondent and TV presenter.
Sopel has worked for the BBC since 1983, so his £230K annual pay is in order. In his time with them, he’s held the roles of chief political correspondent, North America editor, and presenter. Sopel also published several books, all with political leanings, of course. In 2021, Sopel gave up his spot as the BBC’s North America editor to write a book.
