AAVP7A1 Amphibious Assault Vehicle – Cost: $2.5 Million

The AAVP7A1 is a member of the BAE Systems AAV7A1 family of vehicles. The series of Assault Amphibian Vehicles can be traced back to 1932 with the Roebling Alligator. But in contrast with the disappointing performance of the Alligator, the AAVP7A1 is a definite upgrade.
It has a speed of eight miles per hour in the water and 45 miles per hour when on land. Manned by three crew members, it can safely take 25 Marines from ship to shore. It is considered one of the most versatile vehicles in the Marine Corps arsenal because it can be used for both beach assaults and as a refueller.
