M60 Patton tanks have been around for a long time. First produced in the late ‘60s, they were seen as a temporary answer to the United States’ heavy armor needs. The original design underwent several changes over the decades, with its iterations finding their way to other countries.

As of 2019, around 17 nations own and operate M60 Patton tanks. Among them is Egypt, which has over 1,000. Its longevity can be attributed to its design as a general-purpose medium tank with the power of a heavier vehicle. That said, it’s definitely earned its place in military history books.
