Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton – Cost: $120 Million

The aptly-named Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton is an unmanned aircraft that specializes in surveying coastal and ocean regions. Having the ability to fly 24 hours a day all week long, it’s valuable for its ability to provide real-time intelligence to the Navy.
The MQ-4C Triton, which cost $120 million to acquire in 2014, is powered by a turbofan engine made by the luxury car brand Rolls Royce. That paired with the aircraft’s de-icing and lightning protection features makes it an all-weather flyer. That said, it’s no surprise that the Australian army has also gotten its hands on the high-altitude aircraft.
