What’s The Curiosity Mission?

For the most part, Curiosity’s primary goal is to establish whether or not Mars is or was habitable. The rover’s primary purpose is not to search for life but rather to gather data on the area it is exploring. Mount Sharp was the primary goal when the rover departed the Glenelg region in early July 2013.

However, during 2018, the focus was on Gale Crater, the hundred-mile-wide area geologists think was once a vast oasis and lakebed. If microbial life ever existed on Mars, The Curiosity rover’s objective is to find out. In addition to 17 cameras, the rover is outfitted with a robotic arm that contains laboratory-like equipment and instruments.
