Mary Ward – 106

In 2020, Mary Ward turned 105 years old and officially became Australia’s oldest living actress. Today, she is 106 and has lived through two pandemics. She retired from the acting industry in 2000, with a long list of experiences to reminisce on. Ward was an on-stage actress in England before she entered the film industry. When she went back to Australia before World War I, she had the honor of being one of ABC’s first female radio broadcasters. In the latter parts of her career, Ward became known for playing elderly roles in TV soap operas like the convict “Mum” (Jeanette) Brooks in Prisoner.
