Comedian Carol Burnett became the first woman to host a variety show on American television back when The Carol Burnett Show premiered in 1967. A notable figure on the small screen, Carol’s reputation led her to work in other areas of the show business, including motion pictures and Broadway shows. As a movie actress, Carol became part of productions such as Annie, The Front Page, The Four Seasons, and, most recently, Horton Hears a Who! In 2005, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest-regard civil award attributed in the United States.
