Frank Zappa – $40 Million

Frank Zappa was undoubtedly one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and a very controversial personality as well. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, he played with the Mothers of Invention, but he became more famous for his solo work.  He released more than 60 records with the band and as a solo artist, most of which he produced himself.

Zappa’s music incorporated elements from many different genres. From blues to African beats and classical themes, Zappa’s tunes where groundbreaking and they made him one of the greatest guitar virtuosos of all time. His earnings increased tremendously, and he managed to amass about $40 million. He sadly passed away in 1993 from colon cancer.
