Joni Mitchell – $100 Million

Joni Mitchell might actually be the greatest female guitarist of all time. She initially performed in bars in her hometown of Ontario, Canada, before releasing her debut album in 1968. However, it was Blue, her fourth studio album, in 1971, that made her an international star. She’s earned about $100 million during her career.

Mitchell criticized the music industry and she wanted to release music DIY-style. She produced most of her 19 studio albums, while she also designed their artwork herself. Her last album was the 2007 record Shine. She’s been a part of the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame since 1997.
