The Epic Finale of  “Cheers”

Successfully concluding a series is no easy feat. The final acts of sitcoms are expected to be humorous while also satisfying the audience’s need for resolution. Only a select few television series have ever truly succeeded, and one of those did it 25 years ago. The final episode of the 11-season, 275-episode “Cheers” ran on May 20, 1993, and was part of a three-part, feature-length extravaganza.

The live TV party featuring Jay Leno was the finale’s most memorable moment. An excessive amount of booze was served, and several of the actors appeared to be under the influence, making for a TV disaster of epic proportions.
