The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

The Empire Strikes Back is the second movie in the Star Wars trilogy and is a sequel to the 1977 movie, A New Hope. Directed by Irvin Kershner, it’s based on George Lucas’s story and was released on May 21, 1980, in the US. A day before its release, the film had a Royal Charity Premiere in London on May 20, 1980.
The movie made a box office collection of $290.5 million, which stands at $884.6 million today. On December 10, 2020, Disney celebrated its Investor’s Day, and it was announced that Patty Jenkins would be directing the next Star Wars movie, Rogue Squadron.
