Ben-Hur (1959)

Directed by William Wyler, Ben-Hur is based on the novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, written in 1880 by Lew Wallace. The star cast includes Charlton Heston, Jack Hawkins, Haya Harareet, Stephen Boyd, and Hugh Griffith. The movie was released on November 18, 1959, and featured costumes designed by Elizabeth Haffenden, a British designer.
It was the highest-grossing film of 1959 with a box office collection of $883.4 million in today’s time. Ben-Hur held the position of the second highest-grossing movie of the ’60s for a long time, Gone with the Wind being the first one.
