Like we said before, cellphones didn’t actually exist before 1973 and weren’t popular until three decades later. Here this person is seen holding a device to his ear that looks like a cellphone. This is a picture from Charlie Chaplin’s 1928 film “The Circus.” In this clip, this person is seen walking at a normal pace before stopping, and her body language shows something close to confusion.

Is she really from 1928, or is she from the future? Truth is, in 1924, Siemens developed a compact, pocket-sized carbon microphone/amplifier device, and a few years later, they developed more hearing products.
