’30s Cellphone

The first cellphone didn’t come out until 1973. It was then three whole decades later that it became a common device, and half the United States population had one. Even when they first came out, they weren’t small enough to fit in your pocket. So it is odd to see a woman in this photo from the ’30s carrying one.

Yes, they had regular telephones, but a small cellphone was not common. Maybe she’s on the phone with her future gal pals, letting them know that she made it to the 1930s safely. It could have also been a hairbrush or a small wallet, though!
