In 2005, Christina Aguilera was 24 years old and one of the world’s most popular singers. She was dating her now-ex-husband Jordan Bratman at the time. A music executive, Bratman proposed to Aguilera while on vacation and had the perfect “secret weapon” to pop the question: a 5-carat diamond.

Proving to be a thoughtful guy, Bratman decided not to include pink stones in the jewel (as initially planned), so they wouldn’t match Aguilera’s characteristic pink nail polish. Aguilera and Bratman were married up until 2011. Since the divorce, Aguilera’s been enjoying the company of her longtime partner Matthew Rutler, who works as an assistant director.
