Great is an Understatement!

The Great Barrier Reef sits next to Queensland and the neighboring island of Papua New Guinea, and it’s arguably the most famous underwater tourist attraction in the world. It’s a beautiful place filled with an incredible diversity of maritime species, but how great is it?

It’s hard to even conceive the full scale of the Great Barrier Reef, as it stretches for close to 1,430 miles. That means it’s bigger than the Australian states of Victoria and Tasmania combined! What’s even more impressive is that every choral is alive, meaning the Great Barrier Reef is one of the largest breathing, livable ecosystems on the planet.
