Protect the Sheep

As you can probably guess, it wasn’t easy to keep a flock of sheep alive in Australia during the 19th century. If the Australian outback can be a dangerous place for a human right now, imagine being a fragile sheep over 100 years ago! Luckily, Aussie cattle owners came up with a great idea to eliminate the dingo, a sheep’s worst enemy.

In 1885, they finished building the now-famous Dingo Fence, meant to keep dingoes and sheep separate forever. Unlike any fence you’ve ever seen, this Queensland landmark stretches for a whopping 3,488 miles, making it one of the longest structures in the world.
