Aircraft Window Openings

Anyone who has flown in the past knows that airplane windows don’t open, especially at high altitudes, but there are some tiny holes located at the base of the panes. Yet most of us wonder, what is the use of those small holes?

Known as the breather hole, the opening helps the outer panes handle the pressure difference when the plane goes higher. As such, the cabin pressure is safe to stay in and ensures one enjoys a comfortable journey. If anything goes wrong on the outside, then some air will get through the holes, which means the outside window panes have been interfered with.
