Senegal

Senegal deserves honorable mentions as the first team in the history of the World Cup to be eliminated using the fair play rule after being tied with Japan. FIFA has eight tiebreakers to determine which team makes it through and which doesn’t happen during a second-place tie.
As Japan had collected fewer yellow cards than their African counterparts, they were able to advance to the next stage. Many believe that the Lions of Teranga deserved much better than losing their chance because of that rule. One also wonders if this graceful fan maintained her composure after that decision was made.
