Of all sports played in Iran, Football is the most popular. Back in the 1960s, the country was one of the participants in Asian championships. They came out on top that year, again in 1974, and again in 1976.

Their World Cup debut came in 1978. Since then, they’ve qualified five more times. And for 2022, they chose familiar faces for their 26-man team.
