The Allure of Full Lips

For centuries, big lips have symbolized sensuality and beauty. Thanks to Marilyn Monroe and pinup girls, bright red and pink shades became popular in the ’50s and ’60s, drawing attention to women’s lips. In the ’70s, the focus shifted to the fuller lips of Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias, wife of Mick Jagger.

Girls went to extreme lengths to achieve the look, including using silicone lip fillers and, later, bovine collagen. But it wasn’t until 2015 that lip fillers became a real defining trend, with evolutionary psychology suggesting that women with fuller lips are associated with a stronger mating potential and youthful appearance.
