The Timeless Plaid Pattern

Considering everyone still wears plaid today, it’s obvious the pattern has withstood the test of time. Loved by many for its simple yet striking design, it is one that has gone through many transformations, from its origins as a rustic fabric to its more recent association with punk and grunge styles.
Plaid’s popularity grew in the United States with the arrival of Scottish immigrants, who brought tartan fabric with them. First worn by men in the ’20s, women had their version decades later. But it soon gained a more appealing transformation thanks to the character of Daisy Duke, which gave it a sensual edge.
