Men Once Prefered Flat Chests

The shift in beauty ideals for women from mature curvaceous bodies to slimmer looks also promoted the trend of boyish appearances. This meant keeping a flat-chested figure, epitomized by supermodels such as Twiggy. Not surprisingly, as models became thinner, some men considered more petite and slender bodies appealing.
But for females who were naturally endowed, this new preference posed a challenge. How were they going to remain desirable? The answer was bodices. After World War I, undergarments transformed to align with the new androgynous style. Women were freed from the confines of the restrictive corset and began binding their bodies instead.
