The Androgynous Chic Fashion Movement

One can easily notice the fashion trend upsets of the 20th century reflected and coincided with change, rebellion, and the breaking down boundaries. Unsurprisingly, the androgynous chic style became popular and was embraced as a symbol of feminism. Women wanted to challenge gender norms and break free from the stereotypes imposed on them in the past.

Designers like Coco Chanel introduced feminine trousers, and Yves Saint Laurent made menswear-inspired suits like Le Smoking suit. They played a massive role in popularizing this style for women. However, the androgynous fashion concept has been around since the 1800s as a way for the aristocratic class to stand out.
