Sobriety Was Hot

The rise of second-wave feminism may have challenged traditional gender roles, but societal views on females and alcohol remained archaic. Men could drink to their heart’s content, while women who did the same were considered unladylike. The Saturday Evening Post warned that drunk girls were perceived as old hags, while their male counterparts were considered virile.
So, of course, women who maintained their sobriety were deemed attractive. We know that’s not the case anymore, but still, heavy drinking takes a toll on one’s appearance, dulling the hair, skin, and eyes and leading to puffiness, dark circles, and a protruding belly. That’s not a turn-on!
