It’s hard to determine what happened exactly. Did Andre the Giant choose wrestling or did wrestling choose Andre the Giant? The 7’4” athlete from Grenoble, France seemed destined to enter the ring and make his already big opponents look like very small men.

Remembered as one of the greatest wrestlers who have ever lived, this 520-pound gentle giant was a friendly personality when off the ring and was the highest-paid athlete in the game, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. He died in 1993 from congestive heart failure.
