On-Air Safety Loophole

The Mentos-and-soda experiment has been featured extensively in viral videos and can almost be considered an Internet tradition. But in the real world, some people seem to have forgotten about it. After all, don’t you think it should be impossible to have access to both Mentos and Coca-Cola while traveling by airplane?
When dropped in the soda, Mentos act as a surfactant and water molecules are attracted to each other. It also produces an increasing number of carbon dioxide bubbles. The result is a chemical reaction that can be described as explosive, and that can make a mess anywhere, especially inside an airplane.
