Sophie McShera As Daisy Robinson

Sophie McShera was already a 25-year-old woman when she began playing the kitchen maid Daisy, believed to be 12, on Downton Abbey. And yet, she pulled off the more than ten-year difference despite being made to look drabby with a greasy face and dirty clothes. What’s more, some critics have been puzzled about Daisy’s lack of aging.

McShera’s babyfaced good looks definitely play into this confusion. But the problem seems to be the show’s aging inconsistencies, with characters barely aging despite the 15-year span of the plot. Now, in her mid-30s, McShera was more age-appropriate when she reprised her role for the show’s 2019 film version.
