Meryl Streep As The Witch

Is there a character Meryl Streep can’t pull off? It seems like not even the weight of her elaborate costume in Into the Woods hindered her talents as a performer. She even got to shine as a singer again in the film adaptation of the original Broadway musical.

Of course, there’s also some credit to be given to the Colleen Atwood-designed movie costumes, which made Streep’s transformation as a scary witch all the more believable. Peter Swords King is another instrumental figure in the Mamma Mia! star’s convincing dark persona.
