Anne Boleyn

A popular Halloween character, Anne Boleyn, became the Queen of England in 1533 after marrying Henry VIII. She wouldn’t have imagined her marriage becoming her downfall and ultimate death. As per The Anne Boleyn Files, she had a lasting impact on the world, being one of the early instituters of the feminist movement. In fact, she even gave birth to one of the first female monarchs in history.

Her beheading garnered attention as she was ordered for execution by none other than her husband. The charges against her were incest, adultery, and conspiracy to kill the king and are disputed to be orchestrated, as per Smithsonian.
