What Happened to Blue?

While they thought the doctor was doing a check-up on Blue, The Andersons patiently remained seated and waited for the vet to return in his room. The doctor came back from his office approximately ten minutes later, but only this time he was empty handed.

Where was Blue? What happened to him? Why did he not come back with Blue? The doctor knew they were going to have many questions, but before the family became worried, he pulled them aside and led them into another room where he calmed them down and explained the entire situation to all of them.
