Trusting a Bear to Finish What They Started

Then it hit Hana like a spark. She remembered how the bear had first carried a tiny creature into the hospital. If it had done it once, it could do it again. Hope surged through her, pushing away the panic. She and Peter bundled the rescued creatures into whatever they could find, moving quickly but carefully.
The bear stood nearby, watching them with eyes that seemed to understand. Hana gently placed the last little creature into its open mouth. The bear closed its jaws softly, handling it with surprising care. Together, the strange group hurried back toward the hospital, questions swirling, but survival came first. Answers could wait.
