Maybe the Bear Was the One Asking for Help

Peter’s voice echoed up from the well, unsteady and low. He said the bear might have led them here for a reason, that it wanted them to find whatever was trapped below. His words bounced off the stone walls, sounding almost too strange to believe. Hana stared down into the dark, watching as the flashlight flickered across tiny, moving forms.
Their glowing eyes blinked back at her. They weren’t cubs. That much was clear now. Peter reminded her of the injured one at the hospital. Maybe these were the same kind, stuck and scared. He was right. They couldn’t walk away from this. Not now. Not after everything.
