No Time to Waste

The image of the injured creature at the hospital burned in Hana’s mind, its weak eyes still haunting. That moment pushed everything into focus. She knew Peter was right. They had to help. If the bear brought them here, it must have trusted them to fix this.
Her heart pounded as she called down, promising to get him and the creatures out. Fear bubbled under her ribs, but determination rose stronger. Scanning the area, her eyes caught a large, sturdy tree. A flicker of hope returned. It was close enough to anchor the rope. The pieces of a plan were there. Now, all that mattered was pulling it off.
