The Meg Ryan craze started in 1982, back when the exciting young actress landed her breakthrough role in the soap opera As the World Turns. It didn’t take her long to start appearing in major Hollywood blockbusters. She starred in Top Gun alongside Tom Cruise, and she landed her first classic rom-com role in 1989 with When Harry Met Sally… Over the last two decades, Ryan’s been losing some of the notoriety that characterized her prominent acting career in the ’90s. Still, she’s a highly-requested actress, and she has recently made her directorial debut with the 2015 drama Ithaca.
