The Voice of a Generation

There was plenty of action going on during the Woodstock Festival, but the music was still at the center of the stage, both figuratively and literally. The notable ’60s singer Janis Joplin was reportedly paid $7.5K to perform at the festival, and she delivered one of her all-time best performances.
One of the most skillful and original singers of the psychedelic music period, Joplin sadly passed away around a year after this iconic performance. A victim of a heroin overdose, she was fortunately given the chance to say goodbye to the fans with one of the most celebrated shows in rock music history.
