The ’70s Is Peeking In

The flower power style of the ’60s was a must during Woodstock, but small hints of the ’70s fashion trends were already visible during the 4 days of the festival. Only one year after Woodstock, a new decade—and a new spirit—started to take place in the United States.

Unlike the ’60s, the ’70s were marked by a new sense of individualism. Baptized as the “Me” decade by the novelist Tom Wolfe, the ’70s was characterized by an abandonment of the old values of the hippie generation, which included the ideals of communitarianism, peace & love, spiritualism, and connection with the natural world.
