Santana Goes Psychedelic (Literally!)

Santana’s daytime show at the Woodstock Festival was arguably one of the festival’s best. The then-young Mexican-American guitarist, Carlos Santana, and his eponymous band delivered an energetic and virtuous performance, but they were graced with a decent amount of “instant inspiration”. In a 1989 interview for Rolling Stone magazine, Santana admitted he was far from sober during his iconic Woodstock performance.
Believing his show wasn’t up for a few hours, Santana and his band took psychedelic drugs to enjoy Woodstock‘s peaceful environment. However, they ended up being called sooner than expected and had to perform under the influence of an unrecommended dose of LSD. Miraculously, they pulled it off in an epic manner!
