Wisdom From The East

The ’60s youth was heavily influenced by Eastern spiritualism. Buddhism and yoga were more popular than ever in the West, as Indian folklore heroes such as Ravi Shankar and Sri Swami Satchidananda (shown above) were turning into nationwide celebrities in the United States.
Satchidananda was even invited to deliver an opening speech at Woodstock! The Indian religious teacher addressed half a million people with words favoring peace, love, and cooperation. Additionally, he also spoke about the power of music, a power that’s able to “control the whole Universe”. Judging by Woodstock‘s massive cultural influence, he was right!
