Human Blood – $420/Kg

We all have blood flowing in our veins, then why is it so expensive? Because the process of storing and processing the liquid is cumbersome and very expensive. It has to be preserved in very specific conditions for it to be used at the right time, in case of medical emergencies. While the donation of blood is free, you need to pay to procure the same.
Due to very short shelf life and expensive maintenance costs, the prices of blood have been reaching new heights. Add on to it labor and harvesting expenses, and it hits about $420/kg!
