Californium – $27 Billion/ Kg

It seems Chemistry is where it’s at, considering the insane numbers we are getting of expensive elements. The latest addition to the list is the elusive Californium valued at $27 billion per kilogram.
Like most of the expensive elements on this list, Californium is a radioactive artificial element named after California, where it was first created. The radioactive element was cooked up in the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 1950 when the institution was still known as the University of California Radiation Laboratory. It was made by bombarding curium with alpha particles, and if you ask us for more information, we’ll have to drop the conversation.
