Tobacco, on its own, is a cheap commodity compared to all the others on this list. Still, the products that get made from the material are quite expensive and have been steadily climbing the prices every year. The primary reason? Taxes and duties!
During the initial stages, the government rarely paid attention to tobacco users, but as their need for revenue grew, they realized that it was quite lucrative to tax “addiction.” Most people could not outgrow tobacco use and hence, have been paying steep prices for cigarettes, ever since.
